It’s fascinating how the familiarity of language can almost overwhelm the senses when you’ve grown used to filtering out so much in a foreign environment.

Being surrounded by your native tongue after so long feels like tuning in to a frequency you didn’t realize you had turned down.

It's like your mind is suddenly working in high-definition again, where everything feels sharper and more immediate.
