This point about honesty is really refreshing and frankly inspiring to see integrity as a defining trait for a community.

Especially as an American descended from immigrants myself, but assimilated through 3 generations.

Following through on promises or openly explaining when you can’t isn’t just honorable, it builds a deep sense of trust and respect, something our fast-paced, transactional world could use a lot more of.

It reminds me of comedian Godfrey, who, with his humor and candor, was my first real insight into the Nigerian-American community.

His stories opened my eyes to how much of their success comes from this blend of accountability and no-nonsense straightforwardness.

Kind of fascinating, isn’t it? Considering that most of us in the U.S., aside from African-Americans and Native Americans, are descendants of immigrants, there’s so much cultural resilience and shared ground to appreciate.
