This really hits home.

As a Gen Xer, we were raised on the “sink or swim” mentality.

If you weren’t a natural, it was tough luck, and sometimes downright humiliating.

But kids aren’t clueless; they pick up on the pecking order fast.

They know when they’re just there to round out the roster.

And while resilience is great, not every kid needs to build it by getting sidelined at age five.

Creating an environment that values everyone’s effort? That’s a game-changer for keeping kids in the game longer.
