Totally agree with a few points. First, you have to wonder if it's the sycophants behind the scenes who are the cause of the public figures staying in the spotlight, whether they are politicians, athletes or entertainers well past theirdue date. .
Second, I do however, think knowing when to bow out is an individual decision. Some entertainers performed and were well received till their deaths. Sinatra, Bennett..
Some came back after retirement and actually had one last great performance in them, Tom Brady for example, then retired again.
Unfortunately, most celebrities (even non-celebrities) don't believe in the term "aging gracefully"... They dress and behave like they did in their peaks of youth, instead of focusing on staying as fit and healthy as possible and dressing with a style and class that best suits their knowledge and life experience, especially taste.
