You're lucky you actually have a device that can do that nowadays.

When I first started traveling, I either had to learn enough of the language to get by and/or carry around a little dictionary....

On the bright side, English is the world's lingua franca....

But, if you are going to be in a country for at least 1-3 months then making a daily effort to learn the basics of the language of the country you're in is great, but does require some discipline....

Even if you are barely conversant in it, you'd be surprised at how endearing it is to the locals you come in contact with....
